*sigh*
And so i've moved on...
I've decided to let go of my freelance design career and sign on the contractual dotted line of the advertising world. Its been a week and so far its been quite a ride. All seems structured, ordered and departmentalized. I guess it will take some time getting used to the structure of the food chain.
*sigh*
Owing to a 15 minute drive back home nowadays, i have had the luxury of accepting a few mediocre freelance design projects. Thanks to Tiary's contribution to the design process, this menu design turned out to be something that i was quite proud of -- but i guess we both knew that the 'always right' client forever hates what we designers love. This was a very simple yet elegant visual we devised for the client's 'Dolphin Beach Club' Menu card. (The Club sports a swimming pool and restaurant by the seaside)
Guess what? they hated it !!!
said it was tooo simple and empty..*sigh again*

On the other hand, they quite liked this illustration that they want to print to the size of one of their restuarant walls... i cant quite say i was too proud of it - but oh well..they liked it dint they? *sigh again and again*

Matt(my lecturer from RMIT, Melbourne) just sent me the flyer/invite for the '2004 Animation and Interactive Media Screening' at Storey Hall in Melbourne and i just cant believe that its been a year since my debut screening at that place. This years films look even better (forgive me for saying that aimers 2003), but i really think that this year got their shit together a lot better than us. Am really excited to see these films after having read a little bit about them - i so wish i could be there.
So here is a tip -
**On the 25th of November, if you happen to be in the lovely city of Melbourne - forget the bars - forget the nightclubs - forget the casino - forget the arcades - forget the restaurants --- JUST HEAD DOWN TO SWANSTON ST - STOREY HALL and watch these films and after you are done watching, please please tell me all about it before you head down to 'Cookies' to get pissed drunk with these fabulously talented artists.**
Congratulations 'GradDippers 2004' - Best of Luck for the 'Masters'

(btw; in case you might be interested - this is my traumatic yet brief post from last year- same time when i was doing the course at AIM"November 2003")
On the more quieter side - Sis fowarded me this link - The Tajmahal is Tejomahalay - A Hindu Temple. Its quite an interesting read.

Thats my mini tajmahal sitting in the living room showcase.

I dunno about the dolphin people who thought your design was too simple, but I think you’re a flipping genius. (and i do like the colorful bongo dancers, its definitely very appealing).

WOW. I’m boggled. I love them all!!! THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!! I love the writing in the first one, and the pic in the last one!! Now how do I get that together?

I just don’t know what you mean. Showgirls are SO much classier than minimalism with dolphins ; )
One can only hope that your clients read this and see the error of their ways…
Ahahahaha . hohoho. hee hee hee. I kill me.
