Illustration Friday – Dreams
For this weeks Illustration Friday entry, am just going to regurgitate an acrylic illustration i made a couple of years ago for a magazine editorial. The article spoke in detail about how dreams could be effectively used as a problem solving device and how the subconcious mind posessed a fascinating quality of offering real workable solutions to the concious mind.

Big Thanks to dear pal Saif Mosa who patiently posed for this painting. Thanks bud!
Appreciate all your fabulous comments on my previous illfriday post – wisdom. Due to the overwhelming response that i received on that post … am considering distributing a few large prints of the design.
So if interested in getting your hands on one of em… please feel free to leave your email address + mailing address behind and i will try my bestest to get back to you asap ( well.. as soon as i figure out if its feasible or not .. ofcourse
) .. but nonetheless thanks all for the encouragement !

Back !!!
Just got back from a super fun one week trip around mangalore – bangalore – mumbai. I have sooooo much to write about .. but my attempts to keep dblock focussed on the artsy side of my wanderings, has forced me to suss out another platform/mode of presentation that will prove to be less of a deviation from the central theme of this blog i.e design
Maybe i’ll find a fun way to present all the images we took .. fiddle around with comic life again perhaps
or maybe play with what flash has to offer. Anyhoo, will wait to get all the images first.
Here is a photo collage from picturesque mangalore….
( view from the penthouse of Preethi Towers – our abode

more on the trip … later – but soon

Christian walks into the studio midday…
..drops a ‘Payload Asia’ Magazine on the desk and goes …
“Which famous magazine does this remind you of ?
We go ( :-O

The Rising
Happy Independence Day y’all !!
Went to watch ‘Mangal Pandey – The Rising’ earlier this evening and erm…. my verdict = quite good but could have been better.
Aamir Khans performace was fantabulous … the cinematography was average … the song and dance sequences were unnecessary ( 4 times out of 5 ). The film used every trick in the book to get an Indian’s blood boiling and hate the Brits with an undeniable fury for what they’ve done to our country ( there was a brief moment when i started counting the number of Brits i know for real and began plotting the nasty’s i could pull on them
)
Something in the movie just dint do it for me … i dont know what yet. Will have to wait for it to gestate for awhile. For now, i found Aamir Khan’s ’so called’ blog where he has been supposedly replying to comments on the film. Hooooever, this big bad world of advertising has fooled many .. so dont be! Its likely that Msn and Aamir have signed some contract whereby a ghost writer could blog using his name to market ‘msn spaces’… so before you go about writing the 336th comment to him … think about it
Gosh!!! all this scheming and strategy gets me sick at times !! I cant believe i too do this for a living !!

llustration Friday – Wisdom
Here i am .. back again with another Illustration Friday post. Thanks to all who visited my blog last week and left me all those encouraging comments on my previous illustration ‘empty’.
This weeks word is ‘Wisdom’
*oooooh.. angels singing and yoda scuttling about* – were the first things i saw in my head .. but thankfully was able to brain-fart this one out
The definition of “gathering” knowledge over time appealed to me quite a bit and so i thought it’d be fun to take a literal approach on this one. … am not going to say much about it, cuz it seems quite self explanatory

… so leave me a comment and let me know how i went and what you think

Hawt Bong Lass
Illustrated this for muse early this year … thought i’d take it a few steps further on an idle friday afternoon, and have some fun with it in flash –>
I call her the Hawt Bong Lass … krrrrr…
and .. no ‘Hawt Bong Lass’ isn’t cockeyed … it was a glitch and i thought i’d best keep it as it is, cuz afterall she does get a little cocky at times

Holy Cow!
Wow! What a crappy weekend! Absolutely Unbelievable!
Internet Connection became poo + Domain name expired its sorry ass + Both the mind and the heart hurt like a bitch + Stayed at home all 48 hours like a slob = Formula to a Perfectly Sucky Weekend.
Hoooweva…all this time away from the web meant i could catch up a weee bit on my pending reading. Almost finished reading Sarah Macdonald’s ‘Holy Cow’ – very funnny book ( so far… ). Sarah writes candidly about her love and hate relationship with India and paints a colorful montage of ephemeral moments that unfold around her. From spiritual retreats to crumbling nirvanas – Sarah Macdonald dances with death, is reborn and becomes a chameleon of karma .. very very very funny i thought – am definitely going to remember certain bits to quote for later… Sorry Sarah .. but your words are mine .. mwahaaha

Here is a fave bit that i simply must share .. (from the bit where Sarah decides to take her new found knowledge of Hindi out for a spin on streets of India)
I feel like an idiot. I’ve been talking a language that died out with the British Raj. When I thought I was asking a taxi driver to take me somewhere i was really saying, ‘Kind sir, would thou mind perhaps taking me on a journey to this shop and I’d be offering you recompense of this many rupees to do so, thank you frihtfully humbly’. And I’ve been greeting filthy naked street urchins with, ‘Excuse me, o soul one, but i’m dreadfully sorry, I dont appear to have any change, my most humble of apologies.’
funny na ??
