Illustration Friday meets Gifted

Back on Illustration Friday again ! yey!

Thought i’d put up some of my ‘work in progress’ animation frames from my short – ‘gifted’. The film centred around the idea of ‘broken’ and the ‘act of breaking’, therefore it seemed appropriate to pull out a few frames from one of the scenes where my character is actively engaged in the realization that his toy is now ‘broken’ :(
(scroll down to read more and watch the animation)

Synopsis of ‘Gifted’
Gifted is an unusual story about a boy and his toys. He is gifted and he therefore makes a few playful adjustments to his toys – What are these adjustments? Why he makes them? And what method lies behind his madness – waits to be seen.

    Hi Goru,
Loved the animation. Was very very touching. The thing about such stories that I appreciate most, is that more than the animation, the story or message itself stays with you. But thats the beauty of animation, it supports such simple stories so well, etching them in our minds. And I loved the surprise element, when the boy unscrews his leg..was like huh!!.. that worked very well.. Keep going, hope to see more soon!

Very unusual theme, was this a brief driven project or something you just wanted to do?
    Good job!

    hey viperjazz

Thanks for visiting :D .. The brief: write, direct, animate and produce an animated film in the next 5 months

Its unusual theme is born from a long desire to embed dark metaphors in a rather happy environment. :)
